Inspired by last week's American Idol, this song is now going thorugh my mind: We gotta hold on to what we got, it doesn't make a difference if we make it or not we got each other and that's a lot for love .. we'll give it a shot Oh we're half way there.. woooo, living on a prayer take my hand and and we'll make it i swear wooo living on a prayer (80s rock is tubular, dude!)
**note to those unfamilar with the 80s, i.e., members of my sunday school class who were born in the mid 1990s: in the 80s, many rock bands had big and long hair styles..it was just part of the rock and roll scene. Not to say that all rock and roll bands had good morals, but there should be nothing morally wrong associated with them just because they have long hair-- remember, Jesus had long hair too =) ** Anyhow, work has started to slow down finally.. and now I am on a new project.. I find myself making the effort to work harder.. but for some reason my good work ethic doesn't come as naturally on this project (i was asked to look over prior year workpapers this weekend, and instead, I find myself distracting myself with You Tube.. today I watched Taylor Hick's past American Idol performances ...I really like his performance of Play That Funky Music and Crazy Lil Thing Called Love btw).. I think my lack of motivation is partly because busy season has ended, and now I have the time to think about what other work I could see myself in, and also because, for the first time in my seasoned 25 years of life, my supervisor is actually younger than me... i don't know why it would make a difference, and at least in my head, i know it shouldn't make a difference.. hmm, pride issues eh? a while back, i tried saying a prayer in the elevator on my way to my desk in the morning, that I would honor God in my works, thoughts, and actions.. I think when I prayed before work, it really made a difference. Do you think it honoring God in our work comes more naturally when we know for sure we are in the right work, or is this something that even people who are sure about their vocational calling must struggle through?
hmm, can you see it.. Jo Jo, the dog walker?? |
